It is with great pleasure that the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation announces the appointment of Dr. Nontobeka Mabizela as its new CEO.
The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Nontobeko Mabizela as its new CEO, effective from July 2023. Dr. Mabizela’s exceptional leadership skills, extensive experience, and unwavering commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs make her an invaluable asset to the Foundation.
Dr. Mabizela’s journey with the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation began during its early stages, and she has since played a pivotal role in its success. Having served as the Acting Chief Executive Officer since November 2022, she brings a strong focus on governance, compliance, strategic leadership, impact measurement and achieving results – for strong focus. Her contributions as Head of Impact Assurance and Acting Head of Programmes have been instrumental in evaluating and demonstrating the Foundation’s impact, refining programme strategies, and fostering a values-based culture of learning and growth.
Expressing her excitement about the appointment, Dr. Bridgette Gasa-Toboti, Outgoing Board Chairperson, highlighted Dr. Mabizela’s ability to lead the Foundation through dynamic times and seize opportunities for expansion. Dr. Mabizela’s comprehensive expertise and deep-rooted experience will be instrumental in guiding the Foundation towards its mission of nurturing responsible and high-impact entrepreneurs.
Prior to joining the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation, Dr. Mabizela enjoyed a successful academic career, earning a Doctoral Degree in Chemistry from the University of Cape Town. Her dedication to education and social impact led her to transition into the nonprofit sector, where she has passionately empowered young individuals to become catalysts for change.
